Two weeks from now, Marvel’s Hero for Hire will muscle his way onto the scene and Netflix subscribers (us included) will be basking in the Luke Cage origin story they’ve been waiting for. Going off our review, Cheo Hodari Coker’s superhero series certainly packs a bunch, combining bone-crunching action, hip-hop music and a strong turn from House of Cards star Mahershala Ali for a fantastic debut season.
We still have some time to go before clocking eyes on the entire, 13-episode season, though, and in an effort to drum up excitement, Marvel and Netflix have now rolled out the first character posters designed to introduce the leading ladies of Harlem. They are Simone Missick’s – “I don’t seek justice. I stalk it.” – Misty Knight along with Rosario Dawson’s Claire Temple, who is no stranger to Marvel’s small-screen universe following roles across both Daredevil and Jessica Jones.
Indeed, Dawson has spoke before about the ways in which the character of Claire Temple acts as a small lynchpin amid the heroes of Hell’s Kitchen and beyond. How big a role can we expect from Claire this time around? We’ll find out soon enough.
Come September 30, Luke Cage will become available to binge-watch via Netflix. Contrary to previous claims, it seems Marvel’s Power Man – along with his fellow Defenders – could well appear in the Marvel Cinematic Universe after all. At least, that’s according to the Russo brothers, who will soon be behind the lens for Avengers: Infinity War.
