Thanks to Deadline, we have our first piece of casting news for FX’s upcoming X-Men spinoff show, Legion. According to them, Rachel Keller will rejoin Fargo showrunner Noah Hawley for the series, which will focus on troubled mutant David Haller. Keller will play the female lead but her character’s identity remains under wraps – though we do have some hints to go on.
The character is described as “a scrappy, optimistic woman in her 20s,” and will most likely manifest mutant abilities that are “tied to human touch.” This suggests that she’ll have similar powers to the likes of the X-Men‘s Rogue, or Spyke.
Along with the report, we seem to have gotten our first brief synopsis for the show, which you can check out below.
Diagnosed as schizophrenic, David Haller has been in and out of psychiatric hospitals for years. But after a strange encounter with a fellow patient, he’s confronted with the possibility that the voices he hears and the visions he sees might be real.
FX’s Legion doesn’t have a shoot or premiere date just yet, but we do know that Hawley will write the pilot and also executive produce with Bryan Singer, producer Lauren Shuler Donner, writer/producer Simon Kinberg and Marvel TV’s Jeph Loeb.
