While the rest of the Arrowverse shows have been back on our screens for a couple of weeks now, we’re still waiting for the Waverider to return to our time zone so we can catch up on the rest of Legends of Tomorrow season 3. What makes the wait even more difficult though is that we know a great episode awaits us in the midseason premiere, titled “Daddy Darhkest.”
The reason why is because it’ll see the first proper appearance of Matt Ryan as John Constantine on the time-travelling show. We first met the occult detective in his own TV series over on NBC back in 2014, before he was introduced into The CW’s slice of the DC universe in Arrow season 4. Fans have been clamouring for Constantine to return to the Arrowverse ever since and finally, the showrunners have listened.
With this season’s big bad being an evil demonic entity, now is the perfect time for Constantine to help out the Legends. The newly-released synopsis for “Daddy Darhkest” teases the mission that the detective sends them on – a trip to a creepy asylum for a spot of exorcism. Apparently, the victim comes as a surprise to the Legends, though the title of the episode heavily suggests it’s going to be Damien Darhk’s daughter, Nora.
Check out the synopsis below for more:
FOLLOW YOUR HEART — After Sara’s (Caity Lotz) encounter with Mallus, the Legends are paid a visit by John Constantine (guest star Matt Ryan), a demonologist detective. The Legends agree to accompany him to a present-day psychiatric hospital and they are surprised to discover who Constantine is trying to help. During the exorcism, Sara, Leo (guest star Wentworth Miller) and Constantine go missing, leaving Ray (Brandon Routh) and Zari (Tala Ashe) to try to take care of Constantine’s client. Meanwhile, Amaya (Maisie Richardson-Sellers) and Nate (Nick Zano) once again come face to face with Kuasa. Dominc Purcell also stars. Dermott Downs directed the episode written by Keto Shimizu & Matthew Maala (#310).
Exec producer Phil Klemmer has previously described the episode as a tonal mish-mash of two classic movies: The Exorcist and One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest. Chuck in a bunch of DC superheroes and it sounds like you have a winning recipe to us.
Legends of Tomorrow will finally return to The CW when it takes over Supergirl‘s Monday slot for nine weeks, beginning on February 12th.
