Up until this point, we’ve been treated to an array of trailers and teasers for AMC’s upcoming Breaking Bad spin-off, Better Call Saul, with some hinting at the innate tone of the series — billed as 85% drama, 15% comedy — while others showcase some of the new characters fans can expect when the show premieres in February. But today, the network has unveiled a new clip that reveals Johnathan Banks’ Mike Ehrmantraut — aka World’s Best Granddad — sporting his usual scowl.
Debuting during last night’s gripping midseason finale of The Walking Dead, AMC’s latest, one-minute tease for Better Call Saul offers yet another look at Vince Gilligan and Peter Gould’s upcoming drama, which will run for ten episodes in length. Though it was initially met with skepticism from ardent fans of Breaking Bad, all signs seem to be pointing in the right direction for the show, given that the network has already ordered a second season before it has even made its bow.
Charting the questionable rise to power of one Saul Goodman, Better Call Saul will introduce viewers to a side of Saul that we’ve yet to see: a good, honest attorney who dreams big. Set six years before his decisive meeting with Walter White, those dreams soon take our protagonist to some morally grey places who, with Ehrmantraut by his side, looks to become Albuquerque’s number one criminal-cum-lawyer.
Better Call Saul will premiere across two nights when it makes its anticipated bow on AMC on Sunday, February 8. From there, the show will continue through the rest of its season on Monday nights at 10pm.
