As excited as people are to see the first trailer for Avengers 4, Marvel’s been generating a lot of buzz for some of their upcoming small screen efforts as well, with news that Loki and Scarlet Witch will be getting their own shows on Disney’s planned streaming service. But that’s not all, as just a few days ago, we caught wind of a Bucky and Falcon team-up series for the platform, too.
There’s still much to be learned about all of these projects, but the fans have made it clear that they’re already on board. While all of these heroes seemingly perished in the recent Avengers: Infinity War, this latest announcement confirms that there’s a future for them yet and now, Kevin Feige has teased what to expect from their respective shows.
During a roundtable discussion hosted by The Hollywood Reporter, the super producer spoke a bit about the streaming service and though he couldn’t say much, he did explain that Disney Play will allow them to tell stories about these characters that they just can’t tell on the big screen due to time constraints.
“Well, it’s not a hundred percent complete yet, so there’s only so much I’m allowed to say, or so much they even tell me. But Paul mentioned the streaming service, and I think that is something that we’re going to be adding content to, which is exciting.
I love your analogy with the campfire, right? As many people as you can get around the campfire and tell stories. Campfires can be different: We are going to tell stories for the streaming service that we wouldn’t be able to tell in a theatrical experience — a longer-form narrative, that’s what comics are, it’s about as longform a narrative as exists. But also maintaining that theatrical experience, which is our bread and butter, and the lines around the block, if you’re lucky.”
So, classic Feige keeping things vague as possible. Still, it’ll be interesting to see how Marvel uses the medium to really flesh out these heroes and what point in their lives they’ll choose to explore. It hasn’t been confirmed yet when exactly these shows will take place in the MCU timeline, but regardless of where we find them, more of Loki, Scarlet Witch, Bucky and Falcon can only be a good thing.
As we head into 2019, no doubt more details on these projects will start to trickle out, but in the meantime, feel free to let us know what you’d like to see from them by dropping a comment down below.
