This December, we’re getting an epic four night crossover between Supergirl, The Flash, Arrow, and Legends of Tomorrow. However, it was at this week’s Television Critics Association press tour that The CW confirmed a special musical two-parter between Supergirl and The Flash.
It’s a unique idea, but one which makes perfect sense when you consider the fact that Melissa Benoist and Grant Gustin starred alongside each other in Glee a few years back. Specific story details have been kept under wraps for now, but it sounds like an awful lot of fun, and just goes to show how confident the network is in its DC TV content to tackle such a crossover.
[zergpaid]Who should take the helm of this musical meeting between the Girl of Steel and Fastest Man Alive, though? Well, according to That Hashtag Show, it will be Joss Whedon who ends up in the director’s chair. Best known for bringing The Avengers to the big screen, the filmmaker is no stranger to musicals after working on both the Buffy the Vampire musical episode – “Once More, With Feeling” – and cult favourite, Doctor Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog. He also directed episodes of Glee.
Whedon is pretty busy working on an original movie, so whether or not he would be willing to put that aside for this crossover between Supergirl and The Flash is hard to say. That Hashtag Show has been reliable in the past though, so it will be interesting to keep an eye on how this develops. If true, it will no doubt be a major win for both The CW and DC TV Universe.
