It looks like Joss Whedon will be playing a bigger role in Marvel’s new TV show S.H.I.E.L.D than originally thought, as the successful director is already leaking information concerning targeted ideas.
According to Comic Book Movie, Whedon plans on directing the pilot episode for S.H.I.E.L.D as long as his schedule permits it, and will snag a co-writing credit along with Dollhouse collaborators brother Jed Whedon and wife Maurissa Tancharoen.
As for where a S.H.I.E.L.D show will take place in the Marvel universe, Whedon had this to say:
“The storyline for the proposed series will be largely “autonomous” from the “Avengers” sequel feature. The series will revolve around the activities of the SHIELD org governing body for the superheroes featured in “Avengers.”
Although Jed and Maurissa will be the showrunners on S.H.I.E.L.D, Joss commented in a recent interview he’ll check in every now and then, inevitably “taking credit for everything.” Surely he made the comment in jest, but if anyone could pull off that dastardly task right now, it would be the untouchable Whedon, speaking to his glorified status.
While Joss’ heightened involvement comes as fantastic news to fans of The Avengers, a show mainly focused on S.H.I.E.L.D both raises questions and excitement.
