The Mandalorian showrunner Jon Favreau has great news for those who are fans of the Disney Plus series, especially since season three is close to its conclusion.
Favreau has ensured fans that more Mandalorian content will come after season three has ended. During an interview with Entertainment Weekly, he revealed that he was unsure when exactly the series would come to a close, especially since he enjoys working on this Star Wars series.
The showrunner also said that he loves how other characters in the Star Wars universe, who will soon have their own solo series on Disney Plus, are connected in some way in The Mandalorian and vice versa, and how they play a role in each of the character’s development and are being told in the same time period.
“I’m having a blast, and I love working with Dave, and I love how the characters develop over time. I also love that there are other stories now being told in that same time period, like Ahsoka and Skeleton Crew.”
Favreau also pointed out how the events in the film trilogy (prequels, main, and sequels) help when creating stories for The Mandalorian since they know what’s going to happen in the future and what has happened in the past. Writers are now able to tell additional stories outside of the official canon and he tries to take those into account when producing new episodes.
“Now it feels like there’s a larger context for me to understand. Because we just knew what happened after [The Mandalorian], and we knew what happened before, and there’s a lot to draw upon from additional stories that were told outside of what’s considered official canon now, but is held very dearly to the fans who’ve been at it for decades. And so we like to take all of that into consideration.”
Fortunately, it seems like Favreau’s passion for The Mandalorian won’t dissipate any time soon. He has grown very attached to the characters and is happy that fans of the show love them as well. He also claimed that he enjoys working with the cast and crew when producing these stories and collaborating with other Star Wars showrunners to help connect and tell their stories in this growing universe in the Star Wars franchise.
“I really have been enjoying this tremendously and I love these characters and I love seeing how they’re growing together. I’ve really enjoyed working with this group of people and I love collaborating with all these different filmmakers and different storytellers, both from the directors we work with, and other showrunners like Dave and, and others like [Skeleton Crew’s] Jon Watts and Chris Ford.”
“I don’t know what would make me not enjoy doing it, especially as long as the audience is connecting with these characters. This feels like a really enjoyable moment. And I love this format of telling one chapter at a time and keeping the audience guessing, but also fulfilling certain expectations.”
So far, season three of The Mandalorian is halfway through its journey. The first three episodes are available to stream on Disney Plus, with new episodes coming out every Wednesday.
