Black Panther: Wakanda Forever introduced us to Dominique Thorne’s Riri Williams, but she’ll take center stage when Ironheart lands on Disney Plus next year. The show will expand on Riri’s story, likely showing her working with StarkTech, improving her suit, and trying her best to live up to Tony Stark’s considerable legacy.
Complicating matters will be The Hood, as played by Anthony Ramos. The villain should be an especially interesting foil for Riri, as in the comics he’s focused on mysticism and occult knowledge and wields a pair of pistols with magical bullets that can pierce almost any armor.
Ramos has long been rumored for an MCU role, having been linked to Werewolf By Night and Moon Knight in industry gossip. Clearly that didn’t happen, and now Ramos has clarified that he was only ever approached for Ironheart. Speaking to ComicBook.com, he said:
“[The role in] Ironheart was always the role that they had in mind. The other ones were all just rumors, which I was flattered about. I was like, ‘Oh, that’s kind of cool! I was waiting on Marvel to call, but finally they did. The Hood, we had fun. I had fun with that role.”
We guess the moral here is to never believe what you read. If you can’t wait until Ironheart Ramos is currently starring in Transformers: Rise of the Beasts, in which he plays ex-military electronics expert Noah Diaz.
Ironheart wrapped its shoot back in November 2022 and is currently deep into post-production, with the season consisting of six episodes. Beyond that Ramos is said to be reprising The Hood for Thunderbolts, though production of that is currently on hold due to the ongoing writers’ strike. But, let’s face it, the rumor mill clearly isn’t exactly reliable when it comes to Ramos-related MCU gossip, so let’s wait for an official announcement.
Ironheart will release on Disney Plus in early 2024.
