In a new video posted online today, Hulu is giving its fans a peekĀ behind-the-scenes of its dark new thriller The Path. In the two-minute clip, the cast of the show — including Aaron Paul, Michelle Monaghan, and Hugh Dancy — discuss the off-putting nature of the story and where each of their characters are when the show will begin.
The creepily ominous nature of The Path‘s first trailer is kept alive in the new video, which suggests that Dancy’s character, Cal (leader of the cult at the center of the show) is facing leadership issues when everything kicks off. “The movement might or might not continue,” the actor hints. It seems like Paul and Monaghan’s characters will either make or break Cal’s plans as the show moves forward.
Jessica Goldberg (a writer on Parenthood) created the show, with fellow Parenthood creator/producer Jason Katims serving as an executive producer. Although The Path looks like a stark contrast to his previous series (including Friday Night Lights), Katims’ masterful handling of tricky family power dynamics could helpĀ give a backbone to the new show’s dark overtones.
The Path isn’t too far out, either – the Hulu Original will launch on the service March 30th. It has been confirmed that the series will consist of a ten-episode first season, but Hulu has yet to say if it will be an all-at-once thing, or if the new show will follow the 11.22.63 route and be sprinkled over ten weeks. Knowing so little about the show makes that decision hard to judge, but since it looks so dense, it could make sense to trickle it out over time (sorry, bingers!)
