The somewhat ironically undying hit zombie television series has returned to our television screens after the flagship The Walking Dead series aired its final episode last year after an 11-season run. The Walking Dead: Dead City has arrived – which sees original series mainstays Maggie (Lauren Cohan) and Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) form an unlikely team treading into the uncharted, dangerous, and hostile territory of New York City.
Given the ‘Glenn’ of it all forever hanging over both of the characters’ heads, Dead City is sure to be not only filled to the brim with zombies and raiders alike but is likely to unpack the complex, nuanced, and icy relationship between Maggie and Negan. With diehard fans of the series just itching to catch up with these two fan favorites, a question still lingers – just how much time will we be spending with them?
How long is The Walking Dead: Dead City?
The spin-off miniseries will consist of six episodes – so we’ll get to spend around six hours with Maggie and Negan as they begrudgingly cooperate in order to traverse unfamiliar terrain. Given the series is named after its location and its focus is on the pair’s mission within, it is unlikely we’ll be getting a second season to develop these characters even further. Heck, one or both of them could perish by the time the credits roll on the sixth episode, for all we know. Plot armor can only be so thick.
Even if this is all of the Maggie and Negan adventurings we end up being treated with, there’s still plenty more The Walking Dead on the way. Fear the Walking Dead is in the middle of its final season run, and The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon is also inbound. Of course, we’ll also eventually be getting the still-untitled Rick and Michonne spinoff to finally catch us up on what Andrew Lincoln and Danai Gurira’s characters have been up to in the years since they departed the flagship series.
The Walking Dead: Dead City will be streaming on AMC Plus.
