Netflix’s The Haunting of Hill House was a great addition to the streaming platform’s lineup last year. The series does justice to the original Shirley Jackson novel while also providing a singularly scary viewing experience. Given the show’s success, it’s not surprising that Netflix want a second season, which will switch locales as The Haunting of Bly Manor. This move will make the series more of an anthology than a serial, similar to American Horror Story.
Star Oliver Jackson-Cohen was tight-lipped when recently pressed on details for new episodes though, saying “I will get shot if I ever answer that question.” He also refused to be pressed as to whether he’ll be appearing in the new season, commenting:
“All I can say is that Bly Manor is going to be incredible. It’s a very, very exciting story, from what I’ve heard.”
We already know that the source material will come from Henry James’ The Turn of the Screw, something that the official series Twitter account has revealed:
You guessed it. The HAUNTING OF BLY MANOR, a new chapter in the Haunting series based on the works of Henry James, is coming in 2020. pic.twitter.com/nvhRBEfH2E

The Turn of the Screw, which has its own Hill House in the Bly mansion, sees a young governess experiences spooky goings on while looking after a pair of orphans. Mike Flanagan will return to helm the next run, which should hopefully match the unnerving mood of the first season.
We’d like to see Oliver Jackson-Cohen return after his excellent turn as Luke Crain as well, and the actor is keen to do so if given the chance, remarking:
“I feel like working with Mike and Trevor and all of our crew, the writers, was just so special. And Netflix had been so incredible, Paramount, Amblin, all of the people behind it. It was such a dream. And I think, as well, working with someone like Mike who writes these characters that are so much more — there’s so many dimensions to these characters that he writes that I think anyone would love to work with a writer like that. So I would 100 percent love to do it.”
New episodes of The Haunting of Hill House are set to appear on Netflix in 2020. Until then, we’ll be keeping track of all the casting news and details as they come in. If we dare.
