New Gotham Promo Looks To Be Teasing Batman’s Arrival

For us fans of Gotham, the wait for the fifth and final season has been hard to endure, doubly so because of the Batman prequel series not premiering during the fall as it had for the previous four years. If you’ll recall, we received quite the incredible trailer earlier this month that hinted at what’s next for the Joker-esque Jeremiah Valeska and heralded the arrival of Bane, with another brief appetizer showcasing the Scarecrow a week after that.

This time, though, we’re given even more of an idea of what the city has been like following the events of “No Man’s Land” by seemingly being offered a glimpse at the Dark Knight to come. Found at the top of this article, the latest promo shows a couple of fellas spooked by a moving shadow, which one can only assume to be Bruce Wayne fine-tuning his stealth skills.

Believe it or not, Bruce will fully evolve into the Caped Crusader before the series wraps, and even dons some proto-Batman armor earlier than that. Whether or not David Mazouz himself will get the honor of wearing the iconic cape and cowl remains to be seen, as the final episode is supposed to jump ten years into the future. If you were to ask me, a stuntman is probably doing the honor.

When it comes to said costume though, let’s not forget what executive producer John Stephens had to say about its look:

“I think it’s more matte. It’s inspired by, if I had to compare to any one costume, I’d say it’s closer to The Dark Knight Rises. It’s a little more metallic Bat battle-y looking rather than something like the Suicide one or the Affleck one.”

Gotham returns for its fifth season on Thursday, January 3rd on Fox.
