Man Seeking Woman, the comedy series starring Jay Baruchel that FX ordered to pilot earlier this year, has now made it one huge step further. FXX, the FX sister network, has given the show a ten-episode order and added the quirky half-hour comedy to its 2015 lineup.

Nick Grad and Eric Schrier, Presidents of Original Programming, FX Networks and FX Productions, made the announcement this morning:

“Simon Rich has delivered a wholly original, hilarious and fantastical view of single life that features an incredible performance from Jay Baruchel,” said Grad. “We feel this is the perfect fit for FXX and are thrilled to pick up the show.”

According to FX, Man Seeking Woman is “a sweet and absurd look at the surreal life-and-death stakes of dating, and centers on Josh Greenberg (Baruchel), a naive romantic on a desperate quest for love.” Along with Baruchel, the series will co-star Eric André (The Eric André Show, Don’t Trust the B– in Apartment 23), Britt Lower (Unforgettable) and Maya Erskine (Betas).

The pilot was written by Simon Rich, formerly of Saturday Night Live, and with Baruchel, who is wickedly funny, in the lead, it seems like a no brainer that this one was given a ten-episode order.

Rich will stay on as Executive Producer/showrunner, and will be joined by Director Jon Krisel, Andrew Singer and Lorne Michaels also serving as EP’s on the project.

“I’m incredibly grateful to Jon Krisel, Jay Baruchel and Broadway Video for bringing my book to life,” said Rich. “Most of all, I’m thankful to John Landgraf and his team at FXX, who believed in us from the start and gave us great advice at every turn.”

Man Seeking Woman will premiere on FXX in 2015.
