Jon Bernthal’s glowering Frank Castle is fully kitted out as The Punisher in the latest round of set photos for Marvel and Netflix’s hotly-anticipated spinoff series.
Set to become the third and final Marvel/Netflix show of 2017 – after Iron Fist and The Defenders, of course – filming on the anti-hero offshoot recently wrapped in New York City, but Coming Soon has unearthed some last-minute pictures for good measure. Embedded above, you’ll see Bernthal’s hard-boiled vigilante having a run-in with the law. It’s not the first time, nor is it likely to be the last, that Frank Castle clashes with the police force of Hell’s Kitchen, but it’s impossible to gauge the context of said encounter based on these photos alone.
Perhaps what’s more interesting here, though, is the inclusion of Amber Rose Revah’s detective Dinah Madani. Seen on the prowl near a railway crossroads, there’s every chance that Revah’s character – one set to appear in all 13 episodes of The Punisher – will be one of the law enforcers tasked with tracking Frank Castle. Those of you who’ve seen the second season of Daredevil know that that isn’t a job for the faint of heart, so it’ll be fascinating to see how the pair’s dynamic plays out in full later this year. Also on board for the standalone series are Deborah Ann Woll (Karen Page), Jason R. Moore, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, Jaime Ray Newman, Paul Schulze and definitely not Vincent D’Onofrio’s Wilson Fisk.
“One batch, two batch, penny and dime.” The Punisher has wrapped filming, and though Marvel is yet to announce anything official, all signs currently point to a Netflix premiere in November, when Taika Waititi will be introducing the spectacular Thor: Ragnarok into the MCU.
