In what should come as news to no one, The CW has already given full-season orders to two of its freshman dramas: The Flash and Jane the Virgin. The network announced the news via Twitter this morning:
Just announced: full season orders for @CW_TheFlash and @CWJaneTheVirgin!

That tweet was soon followed by a statement from CW president Mark Pedowitz, who praised both shows and stressed the network’s desire to for a broader audience:
“We have had a fantastic start to our season this year, with THE FLASH launching as our most-watched series premiere ever, and JANE THE VIRGIN recognized as the best new show this season by critics across the country.”
Over the past three seasons, we have made it our mission to grow and to broaden out our audience, and to keep raising the bar with the quality and impact of our new shows, and THE FLASH and JANE have both exceeded our expectations on all counts. I’m thrilled to announce full season orders for both of these terrific new series.”
I personally haven’t seen Jane the Virgin, but have noticed a swell of positive reviews. The Flash, on the other hand, may just be my favorite show of the new season (you can read my review of the pilot episode here), so I couldn’t be more excited to hear that we’ll be getting 23 episodes of the show to enjoy. The series has broken ratings records for the network in the three weeks its been on air (and has garnered pretty outstanding reviews), so this announcement was just a matter of time.
The Flash is now the second new DC series to get the coveted full-season order, following Gotham‘s 22-episode pick up last week. Now, all eyes are on Constantine to hopefully do the same.
The Flash airs on the CW on Tuesday nights, while Jane the Virgin airs on Mondays. Do you watch either of them? Sound off below and let us know.
