The upcoming Arrowverse crossover “Elseworlds” will see the live-action debut of Ruby Rose’s Batwoman and you know what that means? Gotham City is finally coming to The CW! Everything Bat-related seemed off-limits to the Arrowverse shows for years, but that’s thankfully not the case anymore and to prove it, here’s your first look at Wayne Enterprises, Batman’s own business.
Arrow EP Marc Guggenheim took to Twitter today to reveal that The CW’s usual hub of Vancouver won’t be used for Gotham and instead, the production team have trekked down to Chicago. The interesting thing is that the city’s already been used as the backdrop for Bruce Wayne’s hometown in Christopher Nolan’s acclaimed Dark Knight trilogy. In fact, fans will recognize the building in one of Guggenheim’s shots as the same one that stood in for the Wayne Enterprises tower in the movies.
As we know that filming on the crossover has reached the final part of the three-night event – the Supergirl episode – we can safely assume that Wayne Enterprises will only feature in the last installment of “Elseworlds.” Possibly also Gotham City as a whole. That’s initially a bit shocking, as we were at first told Batwoman was the big hook of the crossover, but it’s recently become clear that she’s just one part of the overall puzzle.
As the title suggests, “Elseworlds” is going to play around with reality, with the poster revealing that Green Arrow and the Flash are going to swap identities. Plus, Tyler Hoechlin’s back as Superman – not just the regular version, but also an evil, black-suited one. And let’s not forget Elizabeth Tulloch as Lois Lane and the intriguing presence of The Monitor, the powerful cosmic entity. Oh yeah, and John Wesley Shipp’s suiting up as the Flash again for the first time since the 1990s, too.
“Elseworlds” comprises The Flash, Arrow and Supergirl – Legends of Tomorrow is sitting this one out – and kicks off the week beginning December 9th.
