Thanks to The CW, we have our first look at next week’s all new episode of Supernatural, which is titled “Don’t Call Me Shurley,” a nice reference to the classic comedy Airplane!
With just four episodes remaining this season, we are now at the point when things “get real,” so to speak. My point is evidenced by the fact that Amara/The Darkness is simply no longer playing around, for she unleashes a fog similar to the one seen in the premiere episode of the current season, only this one is said to be much more potent.
I’m not sure exactly how or why the virus carried by the fog has an increased potency. Perhaps it affects hosts in a quicker amount of time or has a wider radius of infection, a hot zone, if you will. Aside from it being the Croatoan virus by any other name, it should spell trouble for Sam and Dean.
One significant reason fans should tune in is that of the return of Rob Benedict as Chuck. Aside from a cameo in Season 10, he’s largely been absent since the Season 5 finale. One has to wonder if he will finally reveal himself as God to other characters on the show. We the viewers have known his true identity for years, so this presents an interesting prospect.
For more information on the upcoming episode, check out the official synopsis below:
Amara (guest star Emily Swallow) unleashes a dark fog on a small town, causing everyone to go mad. Dean (Jensen Ackles) and Sam (Jared Padalecki) realize this is a stronger version of the original black vein virus Amara previously unleashed. They team up with the sheriff to protect the town but their old remedy no longer works. Meanwhile, Chuck (Rob Benedict) returns with an interesting proposal. Robert Singer directed the episode written by Robbie Thompson (#1120). Original airdate 5/4/2016.
Supernatural airs Wednesday nights at 9:00 pm EST on The CW.
