In what is shaping up to be a busy, busy day for Netflix – the online streamer just renewed hit sci-fi drama The OA for a second season, with a downright strange teaser trailer to boot – we now have our first look at Bill Nye Saves the World in motion.
Introducing the Science Guy to Netflix subscribers, the announcement trailer confirms the show’s release date (April 21st) along with the range of timely topics that Nye and Co. plan to thrust under the spotlight. In no particular order, they include global warming, alternative medicine, technology, sex, and GMOs (Genetically Modified Organisms). It’s unclear at the moment, but we assume each of the show’s 13 episodes will be dedicated to one topic in particular, allowing Bill Nye and his special guests/correspondents to debunk popular myths and anti-scientific claims all from the comfort of Netflix HQ.
Among those on board for the series are Karlie Kloss, “Space Gal” Emily Calandrelli, and comedian Nazeem Hussain, while the list of special guests includes NBA star Diamond Stone and Scrubs duo Zach Braff and Donald Faison. Cue zany lab experiments and a healthy dose of scientific fun, and you’ll be able to find the show’s official logline, below:
Bill Nye – science guy, educator, mechanical engineer, and curator of curiosity – returns with a new show. Each episode of Bill Nye Saves the World tackles a specific topic or concept through lively panel discussions, wide-ranging correspondent reports from a crackerjack team, and Bill’s very special blend of lab procedure and sly personality.
It’s not rocket surgery, it’s science! Look for all 13 episodes of Bill Nye Saves the World to premiere via Netflix on April 21st, just in time for Earth Day 2017.
