First Footage Of Gotham’s Batman Revealed At TCA

At long last, Batman's finally coming to Gotham at the end of its fifth and final season and, though we're not quite at the stage where we can catch a glimpse of the all-grown-up Dark Knight in action, the first footage released of the show's iteration of the iconic hero was shown at the Television Critics Association winter press tour today, so we now know something of what to expect.

At long last, Batman’s finally coming to Gotham at the end of its fifth and final season and, though we’re not quite at the stage where we can catch a glimpse of the all-grown-up Dark Knight in action, the first footage released of the show’s iteration of the iconic hero was shown at the Television Critics Association winter press tour today, so we now know something of what to expect.

As Gamespot’s Chris E. Hayner reported, the footage showed Batman alongside Oswald Cobblepot (Robin Lord Taylor) and Edward Nygma (Cory Michael Smith) in full Penguin and Riddler mode. This sounds a lot like those set photos that leaked the other month featuring the pair of villains, looking like they’d been tied up by the Caped Crusader.

What’s more, Gotham‘s TCA panel also confirmed that young Bruce Wayne himself, David Mazouz, will portray Batman on the show – well, kind of. When asked if the actor will get to play the part, the reply was “yes and no,” with it explained that he got to wear the cowl and give his best Christian Bale-like “Batman growl,” but the actual Batsy we’ll see in action was played by a stunt performer over 6 feet tall.

Gotham will find a place for Batman as the series finale will fast-forward 10 years into the future, giving us a glimpse at how the show’s characters fell into their proper places in the Bat-mythos. When we do see the Caped Crusader, we’ve been told to expect a Batsuit somewhat akin to the version seen in The Dark Knight Rises.

There’s a lot to get through before that happens, however, including the arrival of Magpie, the rise of Bane and the final evolution of proto-Joker Jeremiah Valeska. As such, be sure to keep watching FOX every Thursday to see how Gotham reaches its grand conclusion.
