Shackled by lukewarm reviews and a whitewashing controversy that sparked into life soon after the casting of Game of Thrones actor Finn Jones as Danny Rand, Marvel and Netflix’s Iron Fist series struggled to leave much of an impression two months ago – compared to Daredevil, Luke Cage, and Jessica Jones, at least.
That’s not to say that Iron Fist was dead on arrival, far from it; in spite of those mixed reviews, the show’s pilot became the most-binged drama of 2017 thus far, which is to say that of the Netflix subscribers that tuned in for the opening chapter in Danny Rand’s origin story, 54.7 percent watched a further three installments in the series immediately thereafter. Take from that what you will, but with The Defenders looming large on the horizon – not to mention the progress being made on the second seasons of Luke Cage and Jessica Jones – ardent fans of Iron Fist have been keeping one ear to the ground in the hope of an announcement.
And at least based on comments made by Finn Jones at Puerto Rico Comic Con, Marvel and Netflix are now on the verge of making that long-awaited Iron Fist season 2 announcement. First spotted by SuperBroMovies, it seems that Danny Rand will get his sophomore outing after all.

Iron Fist is one of four superpowered individuals set to anchor The Defenders on August 18th. Other Marvel and Netflix series brewing in development include a spinoff series for The Punisher. Both parties have remained relatively tight-lipped when it comes to an actual premiere date for the Jon Bernthal-fronted offshoot, but all signs currently point to a late 2017 premiere.
