There’s been plenty of hype surrounding the soon-to-launch second season of Marvel’s Daredevil, but today Netflix decided to give fans one tiny, final glimpse into the 13-episode sophomore year before they go binge-happy tomorrow (or tonight at midnight, no doubt).
In the final teaser (video above), the titular hero (Charlie Cox) punches and kicks his way through bad guys with Elektra (Elodie Yung) by his side. Soon enough, The Punisher (Jon Bernthal) enters the frame and he isn’t too big on fisticuffs – he brought a machine gun to the fray.
For anyone needing a quick refresher, here’s a synopsis of season 2:
Just when Matt thinks he is bringing order back to the city, new forces are rising in Hell’s Kitchen. Now the Man Without Fear must take on a new adversary in Frank Castle and face an old flame – Elektra Natchios. Bigger problems emerge when Frank Castle, a man looking for vengeance, is reborn as The Punisher, a man who takes justice into his own hands in Matt’s neighborhood. Meanwhile, Matt must balance his duty to his community as a lawyer and his dangerous life as the Devil of Hell’s Kitchen, facing a life-altering choice that forces him to truly understand what it means to be a hero.
Earlier today, Cox remained adamant that his version of Daredevil would be “a perfect fit” for the larger, feature length films of the MCU. It’s hard to disagree with him, especially after the short but sweet reminder of his badassery in the show’s final teaser trailer today. Of course, since Marvel has these things planned out to perfection – and years in advance – it’s hard to tell if such a crossover will ever happen. But as long as the actor remains on the small screen, it’s doubtful anyone will complain.
You’ll be able to see him protect Hell’s Kitchen in all-new episodes of Marvel’s Daredevil excitingly soon – the show launches worldwide on Netflix tomorrow, March 18. In the meantime, you can prepare for the new season by checking out our review right here.
