AMC has officially set the wheels in motion for Fear the Walking Dead season 2, with the network confirming that production has now started in Mexico.

Welcoming back the likes of Gone Girl‘s Kim Dickens and Cliff Curtis for another bout of apocalyptic mayhem, Baja Studios and AMC are primed to open the sophomore season on the Pacific coastline, as our ragtag group of survivors do anything in their power in order to survive.

In light of the cameras rolling, Fear The Walking Dead Executive Producer Dave Drickson spoke about the creative opportunities that the new location lends the team involved, and what this next chapter of the Fear saga will herald.

“We are thrilled to be starting production and even more thrilled to be shooting in Mexico. Baja Studios has been home to some of the greatest ocean-set films in recent years and provides all the creative resources we need to begin this new chapter in the ‘Fear’ saga. We couldn’t be happier.”

Set for a 15-episode second run, Fear The Walking Dead may not have knocked the critics for six when it debuted earlier this year, but after becoming the highest-rated first season of any series in cable history, excitement for season 2 is palpable.

When we left Madison (Dickens), Travis (Curtis) and their extended family, our band of survivors had taken up residence in Strand’s (Colman Domingo) gated estate overlooking the Pacific Ocean. But with the way both AMC’s spinoff and the core Walking Dead series are going, that respite isn’t likely to last for much longer, and it won’t be long before the walkers or other survivors throw a spanner in the works.

Fear The Walking Dead will shuffle onto AMC once more when season 2 premieres in spring 2016.
