Fans wonder why everybody forgot about the MCU Ghost Rider

With speculation building about an MCU take on Ghost Rider, fans point out that there already has been on in Robbie Reyes.

Ghost Rider

The MCU will be cranking up its supernatural side soon with Mahershala Ali’s Blade and Oscar Isaac’s Moon Knight, and many have begun demanding an MCU Ghost Rider. Fans have even launched a campaign to cast The Walking Dead and Death Stranding’s gravel-mouthed icon Norman Reedus as Johnny Blaze.

He’s a great choice, though many fans are confused by the hype, as the MCU already has a Ghost Rider. In Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Gabriel Luna is impressed as the Robbie Reyes version of the character. Reyes played a major role in the events of season four, was mentioned in various episodes right up until the show ended, and at one point it appeared he was being lined up for his own spinoff show.

Now MCU fans are pondering this version of the character, who is technically one of the most powerful heroes in the MCU. A Redditor says he “just learned about” Robbie Reyes and is wondering why everyone seems to ignore him.

The top-voted comment is the most succinct answer, pointing out that he hasn’t been seen in five years, and anyway, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is quietly being shuffled off to non-canon status.

Many also point out that he is often brought up, though primarily by Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D fans desperate to keep the show as relevant. Sadly, the odds are stacked against them: WandaVision and Hawkeye both softly contradicted the show, and we know Kevin Feige doesn’t hold it in very high regard.

If and when there’s an MCU Ghost Rider the most fans of Reyes can hope for is some vague reference to the Spirit of Vengeance’s previous host, though chances are they’ll simply outright ignore Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

Oh well, at least the Marvel multiverse means Robbie Reyes’ Ghost Rider will never be truly wiped from existence.
