Chances are, if you were to ask a random stranger what their favorite Star Wars movie was, you’d probably hear the title of one of the originals, or one of Disney’s sequel films, depending on how old the stranger in question was. Of course, you could always find someone who (for whatever reason), prefers George Lucas’ Prequel Trilogy, in which case, you should promptly turn around and run away.
Don’t get us wrong, there are some redeeming qualities to be found, but by and large, the poor writing, shoddy acting, and downright annoying characters of Episodes One through Three completely ruined the experience for a lot of moviegoers. That being said, the films did relatively well at the box office, and it’s hard to ignore how they completed the narrative arcs of Anakin Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi.
Speaking of which, if you were a fan of Ewan McGregor’s role as the Jedi Master, we have some good news for you. An industry insider recently revealed to We Got This Covered that Disney is not only planning to bring Obi-Wan to their streaming service, in a brand new series, but it’ll also see the return of McGregor to the franchise. Details are scarce right now, but it seems the House of Mouse is planning to make an official announcement in the near future, so be sure to stay tuned.
This news comes hot off the heels of another few announcements. Along with the Obi-Wan show, it looks like Disney’s also working on a Boba Fett series, as part of a larger move to transition any planned Star Wars spinoffs from the big screen to their upcoming streaming platform.
Again, not much else is known at the moment about what they’ve got in store for us with all these various shows, but tell us, would you be interested in watching an Obi-Wan series with McGregor reprising the role? Let us know in the comments section below!
