It’s a season unlike any other.
Sure, Game of Thrones and The Walking Dead are each bracing for Earth-shaking new installments – the latter will even spell the return of a familiar face – but season 8 of American Horror Story is different in that it’ll herald the long-anticipated “Coven/Murder House” crossover. And it’s even bringing back one or two unfriendly faces for the ride.
Chief among them is Emma Roberts, whose Madison Montgomery proved to be one of the more memorable figures from “Coven.” The actress confirmed her return via Instagram (h/t Deadline), where she said: “Surprise, bitch! Bet you thought you’d seen the last of me.”
Based on the jet-black attire and shrill voice, we can infer that Roberts actually slipped into character for her brief Instagram update, while Taissa Farmiga all but confirmed her own involvement in AHS season 8, after posting a now-deleted Tweet which read: “All the witches are being asked back.”
That means Ryan Murphy and the Powers That Be over at FX have rounded up a staggering collection of A-listers for the show’s next chapter, with Roberts and Farmiga now expected to join Evan Peters, Sarah Paulson, Kathy Bates, Joan Collins, Billy Eichner, Cheyenne Jackson, Adina Porter and Leslie Grossman. Of course, Billie Lourd is also a lock for season 8.
And Sarah Paulson? She’s quietly confident that the script for the next run is among the show’s best:
I want you all to know that I think the first script for AHS8 is one of our best… can’t wait for you guys to see it! #POSEFX
