The Defenders, otherwise known as Marvel’s small-screen Avengers, has been underpinning the studio’s TV universe ever since Matt Murdock’s Man Without Fear first tossed the walking cane to one side and leaped onto the streets of Hell’s Kitchen.
To date, two of the four cornerstones have been laid in Daredevil and Jessica Jones, with Luke Cage and Iron Fist to follow in the upcoming months. And although both Marvel and Netflix have vowed to manufacture content at a faster rate, it is Luke Cage and Iron Fist that will take priority in the build up to The Defenders – allowing fans to familiarize themselves with each origin story – before both parties revisit Hell’s Kitchen with seasons 2 and 3 of Jessica Jones and Daredevil, respectively. And yes, the Punisher is also mentioned on that bustling slate.

Truth be told, in lending fans ample time to understand the minutia of Cage and Danny Rand as characters, the tiered rollout makes a lot of sense. Just yesterday, Netflix’s chief content officer Ted Sarandos cautioned that the studio has no intention of rushing out new products if it risks compromising quality, meaning that it’s unlikely we’ll see either Jessica Jones or Matt Murdock’s Man Without Fear make their return until 2018 at the earliest.
As things stand, it is Luke Cage that will make his debut next on September 30 – and the spinoff series is already garnering a ton of buzz. Beyond that, tell us, when do you hope to see new seasons of Jessica Jones and Daredevil?
