Goodbye’s never an easy thing to say.
And unfortunately, in order to preserve the decades-spanning show Doctor Who, fans have had to get used to the sad act. As we’ve all painfully learned, every so often, the Time Lord must undergo an involuntary regeneration (no matter how badly David Tennant doesn’t want to go), and after a spectacular display, we’re introduced to a new-looking version of the character.
Famously, the most recent transformation saw the series introduce its first female Doctor, played by Jodie Whittaker. Though audiences have yet to say goodbye to her, there’ve been 12 other Doctors who’ve undergone the change. And that’s all without mentioning the dozens of side characters we’ve had to part ways with since the show’s start over 50 years ago.
Now, thanks to a fan page on Twitter, Whovians from all over are sharing their hardest goodbyes – and (hardly a surprise), a lot of them are coming from Tennant’s time as the Tenth Doctor.
You can check some of them out below, and maybe have some tissues nearby.

But don’t get me wrong, there’re plenty of moments worth re-exploring, no matter how painful they are. And fans were quick to bring up some of the times from Matt Smith and Peter Capaldi’s turns at the helm.

In addition to all the love the recent seasons of the show’s been getting, there was also a great deal of appreciation shown for the classic series. In terms of votes, Jon Pertwee’s final moments with companion Jo Grant (Katy Manning) in “The Green Death” was especially noted. But again, the goodbyes to the various Doctors made quite a presence.

Of course, the series has proven time and time again that in Doctor Who, nobody’s ever really gone forever. You know, time machines make reunions rather easy. But we want to know, Whovians, what do you have to add to this conversation? What moment in the show makes you misty-eyed? Let us know in the comments section below.
