Do we really have to explain to Netflix that ‘The Witcher’ isn’t ‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles?’

Cowabunga, Witcher!

Even Netflix seems to know The Witcher is now doomed to fail, and the show’s latest official poster is an indication that they’ve simply given up trying.

Henry Cavill is leaving Geralt’s chair after only three seasons, stripping the live-action adaptation of its titular lead and making fans everywhere wonder if the streaming mogul could even survive this sudden departure, let alone continue as if nothing’s happened through Cavill’s replacement in the form of Liam Hemsworth.

Well, perhaps we ought to look no further than the few weeks separating us from season 3, because if the marketing campaign is anything to go by, the company has already given up on The Witcher

For some reason that eludes even the most knowledgeable gatekeepers in Andrzej Sapkowski’s Witcher fandom, Netflix has just released a poster for Geralt that depicts the character in a sort of… cyberpunk graffiti light?

Guys, I think Netflix thinks The Witcher and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles are basically the same thing. Geralt is a mutated monster-hunter with dual swords for weapons. Leonardo is a mutated monster who also goes to battle with two swords strapped to his back. Mind. Blown.

Yes, Netflix is definitely trolling fans at this point. I mean, the show is already fated for defeat, if not cancellation, so why not have fun with it while they can?

We can’t really blame Henry Cavill for leaving this sinking ship. The fandom is already devastated by what Netflix is doing to this story, so imagine what it must be like to experience it first-hand on a daily basis.

At any rate, The Witcher season 3 will premiere its first part, consisting of five episodes, on June 29.
