A brand new Marvel update has caused disappointment due to its connection to its young superhero team. The frustration is justified since this isn’t a comic book, it involves real-life actors who grow and age, which sparked the question if the Young Avengers name should remain.
Murphy’s Universe journalist Charles Murphy revealed on Twitter that Marvel’s Vision Quest will begin filming next year and that fans could expect Vision-related characters. Hearing that, speculation began that we’re going to see more of Billy and Tommy — Wanda and Vision’s children that were first introduced in WandaVision.
With that being said, there was concern that the children cast members who were meant to be part of the Young Avengers would be too old to be considered part of the young superhero team. This was heavily expressed on the r/MarvelStudiosSpoilers, where the actors’ age is a huge concern since Vision Quest may be released at a later date.
Some remain hopeful that the Young Avengers would assemble, but under a different name. While it is plausible, it just means that the inclusion of Iron Lad in the MCU will not make sense. It was revealed back in late January that a young Nate Richards (aka Kang the Conqueror) will appear in Agatha: Coven of Chaos, paving the way for Iron Lad and the formation of this superhero team.
While some are worried about the ages of this superhero team, some argued that the ages of the actors shouldn’t be a concern and that they could still be Young Avengers, even if they look a bit grown up. Perhaps make them university students like what they did with Riri Williams in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.
At the moment, it’s currently unknown when the Young Avengers would fully assemble. With the way Phase Five is set up, it’s more likely that Marvel Studios is just putting down the pieces for these characters to appear in the MCU. Either way, fans shouldn’t worry about whether heroes will come together now or later, especially since the plot for Vision Quest and other Marvel Disney Plus shows are still under wraps.
