3) El Jefe Is Back
While some of you may have found the highlight of this week’s episode of DC’s Legends of Tomorrow to be the Cretaceous exploits of several members of the Waverider crew as they braved a T-Rex far in the past, for me, the major draw was that of Sara Lance and Jefferson Jackson delving into the mind of Rip Hunter – literally.
After being “reprogrammed” by Eobard Thawne, Rip had been working at the behest of the Legion of Doom in recent weeks and even spilled some blood in the process. But thanks to some Legends that refused to give up on him, they were able to pull him back from the edge.
Throughout this ordeal, Sara and Jax had to battle evil versions of themselves and other threats inside a warped version of the ship they call home. And although it was a spectacle for the most part, I couldn’t help but notice that evil Firestorm’s flame effects were on par with that of something one would see in a video game from the Playstation 1 era. Perhaps they darkened the flames to show that this was a more sinister version of the character we know, but it didn’t change the fact that something just didn’t look right. I’ll pick up this thread later on in The Flash’s portion of this article.
Anyway, time will tell if it will be business as usual with Rip now seemingly on the side of good and resuming his duties as captain. But, hey, at least we got to see him make out with a mental representation of Gideon (the ship’s A.I.). That wasn’t weird at all.
