DC TV Roundup: Poison Ivy Returns In Gotham And Savitar Debuts On The Flash

While Marvel and DC battle to see who wins at the box office, it’s virtually inarguable that it's the latter who dominates the small screen. Now having taken over four nights of the week when it comes to prime time programming, serialized superhero storytelling has swiftly become a cornerstone in the lives of many a geek these days.

After weeks of teasers, we finally got our first detailed look at The Flash season 3’s big bad, Savitar The God of Speed, in the closing minutes of “Shade.” And, despite being yet another evil speedster for Barry Allen to battle, he’s markedly different in appearance when compared to The Reverse Flash and Zoom, instead looking like a Transformer or something.

As much as his debut dazzled audiences, we do hope this is the last time an evil speedster is used as an overarching villain, lest the concept cause audiences to grow weary. The Flash has such a rich gallery of Rogues, so let his future nemeses be his antithesis, not a dark reflection.

Perhaps the producers discussed this matter, which is why we couldn’t help but notice they have seemingly combined two villains for this interpretation. You see, Godspeed is an entirely different foe who debuted in the comics only months ago and looks like Teddy Sears’ Zoom, only in a white costume.

Granted, the Godspeed name is undeniably awesome and it’s a mystery as to why it took 75 years for it to be integrated into Flash lore, but it’s still for the best that familiar water isn’t treaded beyond this season.
