Starting May 1st, Comedy Central is going to post exclusive content on Facebook for the next 50 days leading up to the June 20th premiere of Futurama. This content includes preview clips, character designs, episode stills, story boards and more each day.
In addition to this, starting May 7th Comedy Central will also be releasing weekly podcasts hosted by executive producer David X. Cohen along with a rotating cast of Futurama writers and producers. Together they will provide inside commentary on each piece of exclusive content slowly released through this marketing campaign. The weekly podcasts will only be available on iTunes.
Futurama‘s seventh season is scheduled to premiere on Wednesday, June 20. The countdown kicks-off with a sneak peek clip from the season premiere episode, ‘The Bots And The Bees.’
Futurama was created by The Simpsons creator Matt Groening and developed by Groening and David X. Cohen. It follows the life of Philip J. Fry, a pizza boy who accidentally freezes himself on December 31, 1999 and then wakes up in the year 3000 where he finds employment at Planet Express, an interplanetary delivery company.
I am a huge Futurama fan and am ecstatic that this much effort is underway to support this previously cancelled series.
Are any of you fans of the series? If so, what do you think of the 50 day campaign?
