Set against the fast-paced backdrop of the Big Apple, Ansari stars as Dev, a 30-year-old budding actor caught in the midst of a mid-life crisis. Hardly original, of course, but there are elements of the star’s blunt humor peppered in the debut trailer that have caught our attention. As the official synopsis puts it, our protagonist “has trouble deciding what he wants to eat, much less the pathway for the rest of his life.”

Netflix has issued one season of Master of None to date, with the likes of James Ponsoldt, Lynn Shelton, and Eric Wareheim all directing various episodes across its planned run. On the other side of the camera, Ansari – best known for his turns in Parks and Recreation and Bob’s Burgers – will be joined by Noël Wells, Eric Wareheim, Lena Waithe, Kelvin Yu, and H. Jon Benjamin when the dramedy airs next month. Whether the Master of None can maintain that wry humor across its ten-episode stint remains to be seen, but for now – based on the trailer alone – we’re cautiously optimistic.

Master of None will make its bow for a ten-episode run on the streaming platform come November 6. In the meantime, share what you think about the debutant trailer using the comments below.
