This December, the yearly Arrowverse crossover will run across three nights, bringing together the casts of Arrow, The Flash and Supergirl for an adventure that will see them head to Gotham City. Titled “Elseworlds” it’s been strongly hinted that things will get pretty multiversal, and while there’s lots to look forward to, it seems The CW wasn’t able to find any room to bring in the Legends of Tomorrow. Or at least, not all of them.
As has been mentioned a few times now, the team will be sitting this crossover out, but it seems that one member of the squad will still pop up for a quick cameo. Who that may be, we can’t say, but while chatting to Entertainment Weekly recently, producer Marc Guggenheim revealed that there will be a Legends cameo in hour 3 of “Elseworlds.”
Again, he wouldn’t say who it’ll be, but did explain why the entire cast won’t be involved, and it seems that it comes down to the fact that since it’s an ensemble show, it’s incredibly difficult to bring them all together for the crossover.
“[Last year’s “Crisis on Earth-X” was] very hard on the crew, it’s very hard on the cast, and we wanted this year to just be a little easier.” Guggenheim explained. “That’s why we focused on crossing over mainly the leads of the shows and not including a fourth hour. The hard thing about crossing over with Legends is, because that’s an ensemble show, you’re crossing over with the entire cast.”
That definitely makes sense, and again, there’s more than enough going on in this year’s event to distract us from the fact that the Waverider crew isn’t involved. Of course, the biggest thing will be the debut of Ruby Rose’s Batwoman as well as the introduction of Gotham City into the Arrowverse. Beyond that, though, Tyler Hoechlin is back in his role as Superman, with Lois Lane joining him, too.
“Elseworlds” is set to take place across the eighth episodes of the series, airing on December 9th-11th, and with under a month to go now before it airs, you can bet we’ll be learning a lot more about it in no time at all.
