Throughout the course of six seasons, Arrow has played host to some pretty crazy cliffhangers. And though we could debate for hours which among them were the best, you have to admit that what we witnessed back in May has to be near the top of the list.
Long story short, Oliver Queen publicly admitted that he’s the Green Arrow after turning himself over to authorities. Granted, Smallville‘s iteration of the character also revealed his secret identity, but the ramifications that followed didn’t have the high stakes of what we’ll soon witness.
With Ollie now in Supermax lockup, the question on everyone’s mind is in regard to how long he’ll stay there. Already though, we know season 7’s premiere is titled “Inmate 4587,” so there won’t be too radical of a time jump once the saga resumes.
Somehow, there’d been rumors circulating stating that our hero will be breathing free air in episode 3, to which lead actor Stephen Amell himself countered on Twitter with “False.” Succinct, to be sure, but he’d know better than anyone of what lies ahead.
Naturally, fans followed up with questions asking if that means more or less, but Amell will likely remain tight-lipped beyond this point. I mean, on the one hand, there are a number of storytelling possibilities to be explored if Oliver were to stay in the clink for a bit, but on the other, viewers may lose interest if he’s not protecting the streets of Star City before long.
Thinking critically, logic dictates that he’ll be out in time for the fall crossover set to introduce Batwoman. Normally, this would be episode 8. But considering that the event is slated to air during the first week of December this time around, it could be episode 9 in this case. In other words, expect somewhat of a return to the status quo before then.
Arrow returns for its seventh season on Monday, October 15 on The CW.
