Not long ago, we learned that the seventh season of Arrow will push the boundaries of what The CW’s censors will allow, but we didn’t really get any specifics. I mean, there were also hints being dropped regarding it being the darkest season to air since the first, though you can never be too sure until it’s actually showtime.
So, while we wait for another trailer to hit the web and circulate the airwaves similar to what’s been offered for most of Arrow‘s sister series in the past couple of weeks, we’ll have to take what we can get in the interim. In fact, a brutal teaser has begun making its rounds on social media, and we’ll discuss it right now.
Seen below, this fifteen second clip features what appears to be a nude Oliver Queen kicking somebody else’s ass while he’s still in the process of showering. Obviously, outing yourself as the Green Arrow before checking into such a highly secure prison is a great way to paint a target on your back, so it stands to reason that our hero doesn’t enjoy moments of rest all that often these days.
Getting back to the subject of pushing the envelope, here’s what producer/director/stunt coordinator James Bamford had to say regarding this very subject:
“[Showrunner] Beth [Schwartz] and I had a phone call with BNSP, which is our censors… a very lengthy phone call about a particular scene that we never had before. So we are really trying to push the limits on the show in the gritty factor. We are trying to go as far as you can go within the confines of our network and what is expected of us and what we can and can’t do. We are not on Netflix so we will never be able to X, Y, and Z, but we are damn sure going to try.”
Arrow returns for its seventh season on Monday, October 15 on The CW. As for that new trailer we just know is waiting in the wings, we advise that you keep watching this space, as we’ll have it for you once it’s made available.
