One of Amazon’s most unsuspecting properties has now secured a full-length second season. Bosch debuted its first season exclusively via Amazon Instant Prime in February, and snagged two prestigious honors in the following month. In terms of viewership, it secured the biggest debut weekend of any Amazon Original series and went on to become the most-watched title on Amazon Prime during its first four weeks. Now, understandably so, another season has been set in motion that will continue the tale of Hollywood cop Harry Bosch.
The series is adapted from Michael Connelly’s series of novels, and season two will continue that trend. For this next spate of episodes, the adventures of the gruff LAPD detective (Titus Welliver) are to be mined from two of Connelly’s novels – Trunk Music and The Drop. During these hour-long instalments, Bosch will investigate the murder of a Hollywood producer who laundered money for the mob and pursue a serial killer threatening the lives of his daughter and ex-wife.
Welliver will be back as the tough law enforcer along with co-stars Jamie Hector, Amy Aquino, Lance Reddick and Sarah Clarke. The executive production crew behind the first season are also primed to crank out another clutch of episodes. Series’ creator Eric Overmyer, Henrik Bastin and Pieter Jan Brugge will all be back in the saddle, and the man who started it all – Michael Connelly himself – also returns to executive produce, for what he describes as another great season of Bosch:
“I am very excited about continuing the Bosch story with season two. I love what we started with and I think our plans for the second season will make the show even better and more exploratory of the character of Harry Bosch. We have a great cast and crew, and we are all going to be one year better at this. I can’t wait.”
