A TV-MA rating could spell good success for this upcoming reboot.

Daredevil, also known as The Man Without Fear, is one of Marvel Comics’ most beloved characters, eventually growing in fame due to Netflix and Marvel’s collaboration which resulted in three seasons of intense superhero storylines surrounding him. Now, with the announcement of Daredevil: Born Again coming in 2024, Marvel has the chance to do the character and his journey even more justice.

Netflix’s Daredevil is still widely considered one of the most impressive Marvel television projects, and the best in The Defenders Saga, and Charlie Cox was so magnetic as the blind vigilante lawyer that he was asked to return to the role as Matt Murdock after a series of cameos across Phase Four of the MCU. Besides Cox, Marvel has also secured Vincent D’Onofrio to reprise his role as the Kingpin, Wilson Fisk. While the show isn’t coming anytime soon, we can only speculate which characters will show up until they’re revealed.

In the spirit of hoping, and for a chance to give the fans what they want, here are 10 characters we hope we see in Daredevil: Born Again.

Foggy Nelson

Matt Murdock would not be as iconic or interesting without his best friend and business partner, Foggy Nelson. Extra points to Disney and Marvel if they can get Elden Nelson to come back to the franchise with his signature charm and likeability. Foggy was Matt’s best friend from law school and their friendship remained even after graduation, leading them to continue their law practice together. Foggy is Matt’s emotional anchor and it won’t be Daredevil without him, really.

Karen Page

The third member of the dream team is Karen Page, who was played by Deborah Ann Woll in the Netflix series. Karen was the secretary at Nelson and Murdock, but she eventually became a friend, team member, and business partner to Matt and Foggy. Karen is one of the most interesting characters in the Daredevil universe and is also one of Matt’s many love interests. Fans would undoubtedly love to see how that relationship progresses in Born Again.

Bullseye

The third season of Netflix’s Daredevil introduced Benjamin Poindexter as Bullseye, the scarily accurate and damaged villain. Bullseye and his story brought an even darker tone to an already dark show and Wilson Bethel crushed the role, portraying the troubled mind of Dex as he was slowly manipulated by Wilson Fisk. The third season wrapped up most of his plot threads, but left room for a reappearance from Bullseye and we would love to see him in his own costume owning the villainous role fans couldn’t get enough of.

White Tiger

Angela Del Toro is another one of Daredevil’s allies, and would be a great addition to the new show. She was introduced in the comics as an FBI agent who became obsessed with finding out why Matt does what he does after his identity as Daredevil was revealed. She later inherited the White Tiger amulet from her uncle, giving her powers and allowing her to understand first-hand why heroes like Daredevil choose to fight crime the way they do.

Typhoid Mary

Typhoid Mary is one of Daredevil’s most interesting and dangerous antagonists. Due to her dissociative identity disorder, Mary has three different alters within her, one of which is a bloodthirsty serial killer. Mary was portrayed by Alice Eve as a villain in Iron Fist, though most fans were not satisfied with that adaptation. Her mutant powers and mental health issues make her a must-see in character in the new show, and she should be considered as one of the comic book characters to re-adapt.

Elektra Natchios

Elektra is one of Matt’s main love interests and has been both an ally and antagonist to him across the comics. She was a main character in the second season of Netflix’s Daredevil and was portrayed by Elodie Yung. Many fans were unhappy with the arc the assassin got in Netflix’s show as she was portrayed as a bad influence on Matt and was ultimately killed. Since Daredevil: Born Again is set to be a soft reboot of Cox’s Daredevil, we could see Elektra rebooted as well to be more similar to the comic version of the assassin.

Gladiator

Melvin Potter is another must-see character for the new show, especially if Matt Gerald is willing to reprise the role of the gentle giant. In the comics, Gladiator is a supervillain turned hero who works as a costume designer by day. The Netflix show took a different route by making him a mentally disabled man but a skilled suit maker who was manipulated into working for Wilson Fisk. He eventually starts working exclusively for Matt but gets roped in with Fisk again by season 3, leading to his arrest. This could be an interesting point to start his character from in Born Again and introduce him as the villain Gladiator.

Mr. Fear

A few people have taken on the mantle of Mr. Fear across the Daredevil comics, but for Born Again, we would like to see Lawrence Cranston’s version. Larry was a colleague of Matt’s in law school and harbored a grudge against him ever since. After discovering the fear gas used by previous incarnations of Mr. Fear, he makes it his mission to take down both Matt and Daredevil, eventually realizing that they are the same person. Mr. Fear would be a great addition to the roster of villains in Born Again as he is a threat from Matt’s past and a villain that has yet to be adapted.

The Defenders

The Defenders are a ragtag group of New York-based heroes consisting of Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist. As Marvel had shows for all of these characters on Netflix, it was only logical to create a crossover show with all of them. Some people were not fans of The Defenders show, but the characters themselves are all unique and it would be a pleasant surprise to watch them team up again in Daredevil: Born Again.

Echo

Maya Lopez, also known as Echo is the adoptive daughter of Kingpin. She is deaf and is Native American and was taken under Kingpin’s wing after the death of her father. In the MCU’s Hawkeye, Alaqua Cox starred as the character, to much praise, and while she has her own series Echo coming in 2023, we would love it if she makes an appearance in Daredevil, and vice versa!
