Alison Brie has joined the ranks of the Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling now that the Community alum has agreed terms to headline Netflix’s all-new wrestling series, G.L.O.W.

Word comes by way of Deadline, confirming that Brie will headline the 10-episode comedy as an “out-of-work actress who finds one last attempt to live her dreams in the form of a weekly series about female wrestlers.” Ordered straight to series earlier in the year, G.L.O.W. has a trump card in executive producer Jenji Kohan – best known for hatching Netflix favorite Orange Is the New Black – and Kohan will no doubt be hoping for lightning to strike twice for his female-led dramas.

Enlisting Alison Brie as the de facto lead is certainly a good place to start. Aside from her comedic breakout as Annie Edison on NBC’s Community, the actress also held a role on Mad Men along with the Amazon original series, Julian Fellowes presents: Doctor Thorne. G.L.O.W. marks a return to comedy, however, and next up for Netflix and Jenji Kohan will be to surround Brie with a collection of talent.

Beyond those unyielding reports of a Community spinoff movie, Brie recently starred in the shelved college comedy Get a Job – originally shot four years ago, it was only back in March that Lionsgate’s languishing picture hit theaters – before reprising her supporting role in BoJack Horseman.

No word yet on when the actress will fully immerse herself in the world of “big hair and body slams” for Netflix’s G.L.O.W., but we’ll be keeping pace of this project as it develops nonetheless.
