A continuously renewed horror crime drama on Netflix with worsening audience reviews gets bashed to the moon and back

For some reason, Netflix seems to take away the shows the people want and keeps renewing ones they don't.

As Riverdale approaches mid-season 7, Netflix members are up in arms about how a show that is diving in ratings could remain streaming while their favorites are being canceled. There seems to be some confusion about who makes the shows but their anger is righteous either way.

Averaging in the high 30% Audience Score on Rotten Tomatoes, Riverdale has watched its Tomatometer rating drop from 78% in season 5 to 67% in season 6. Of course, not many reviewers even care to rate the show that has taken so many turns, it’s hard to believe it has any new ideas left. Archie lost his father, was sent to juvey after being framed for murder, escaped juvey, joined the Army, returned to Riverdale, and when things didn’t work out with Veronica, he started macking on Betty. They started developing special powers after surviving an explosion together and now Archie is a serial killer in an alternative universe.

That’s the show that so many Netflix users can’t believe is still on while Lockwood & Co. was canceled after season 1.

The pain is real and fans of shows feel the same all across the entertainment spectrum. However, there is a slight misunderstanding that might bring closure to the issue. Riverdale is made by The CW Network and streamed on Netflix. Season 7 will start streaming after the season ends on CW.

Lockwood & Co. is a Netflix original. Netflix alone decides whether to keep making the show or to cancel it and with its ratings, it is a head-scratcher. It boasts a 7.4/10 IMDb rating and a 92% Rotten Tomatoes score. That’s a show with the fanbase on its side and Netflix is letting it go. That definitely doesn’t make sense no matter who made it.

The fact is astonishing that Riverdale keeps getting brought up in this conversation about canceling the ghost-hunting series after only its first season but keeping the Archie Comics series going on for what seems like forever.

Maybe if they scream in all caps, Netflix will hear them. It’s worth a shot when nothing else works.

Some reactions are more intense than others because everyone’s feeling a bit emotional and they all have their own ways to cope with frustration over things they can’t control.

At least there are some Riverdale fans who can be empathetic but they’re still not going to apologize simply because their show has survived whatever brainfarts executives have when they are deciding which shows to cancel and which ones to keep.

Riverdale haters can rest easy tonight knowing that there won’t be a season 8 if the word on the street is correct. And just to add to that, the Riverdale spinoff Katy Keene didn’t make it past season 1 either. So, there’s that.
