Towering Titans: The 10 Greatest Members Of The Teen Titans

Another week, another new comic book adaptation from DC and Warner Bros. This time, it's been announced that the long-in-the-tooth Teen Titans TV series is finally on the way. Titled Titans, the project will be the first time that DC's teenage superhero team has made it into live-action and it'll be released on a brand new, DC-focused digital service, alongside season 3 of Young Justice. The show will be produced by the Arrowverse's Greg Berlanti, DC president Geoff Johns and Hollywood screenwriter Akiva Goldsman.

TV fans might not know that Superboy’s a member of the Teen Titans, as the character is most often associated with the alternate team of super-teens from Young Justice on screen. In the comics, however, while he began with Young Justice, he has been a Titan since joining their roster in 2003.

Created by Project Cadmus, Superboy (also known as Conner Kent) is a half-human/half-Kryptonian clone. Specifically, he’s made up of the DNA of Superman and his arch-nemesis Lex Luthor. As such, while he has many of Supes’ vast array of abilities – X-ray vision, super-strength, near-invulnerability, etc. – he doesn’t possess them all. Most notably, he’s missing the ability to fly.

Though he often struggles to come to terms with his origins, the troubled Superboy grows into one of the most heroic Titans. His finest hour came when he sacrificed himself to stop the evil Superboy Prime (a doppelgänger from a different universe) in Infinite Crisis. He was later resurrected, of course, and eventually rejoined the Titans in The New 52.
