4) Slater (Trevor Peterson)
Slater is definitely an off-beat choice since we didn’t really see too much of this character in the first place, but in his short (extremely short) time on The Vampire Diaries, he made an impact (at least enough that I can’t seem to forget about him). Most of the characters who we meet are either running for their lives, or living their lives on the edge. Very few are actually making the most of their super, extended time on Earth and living semi-productive existences. Slater was one such vampire.
Instead of spending his days in hiding, Slater ran a coffee shop. He used his extreme intelligence to earn almost two dozen advanced degrees and somehow managed to evade the vampire hierarchy effectively for quite sometime. It wasn’t until Rose came to him in need of help that he lost his fight for normalcy. When Elijah (Daniel Gillies) shattered the specially constructed windows brilliantly designed to allow vampires protection from the sun while enjoying their morning latte, Slater became a casualty of Klaus’s war on, well, everyone.
Imagine how helpful it would be to have someone around with Slater’s immense knowledge base. While everyone else is grasping at he-said, she-said folklore, he would come in very handy. He also would probably be fun at parties and rock at trivia night.
