The person behind the stabbing of Cash App founder Bob Lee has been arrested. According to the San Francisco Examiner, the San Fransisco Police Department has stated the suspect may have known the tech CEO prior to the murder.
The San Francisco Police announced that they have arrested a man named Nima Momeni, who is now incarcerated in the San Francisco County Jail facing murder charges. The police reported that Momeni, a tech consultant and entrepreneur, reportedly knew who Lee was, though police didn’t provide details or specifics as to what, exactly, the suspect and victim’s connection may have been.
According to the suspect’s LinkedIn account, Momeni was the owner in 2010 of Expand IT, which provided “tech solutions” for companies. He has been in the tech industry since 2005, and has worked as a system engineer and IT consultant. It’s currently unknown what motivated the stabbing.
Lee’s wife, Krista Lee, commented on Momeni’s arrest, according to KTVU. It was reported that she was baffled as to why the tech consultant would murder her husband. But she praised the police, stating,
“This is the first step toward justice.”
On April 4, 2023, Lee was stabbed to death in a San Francisco neighborhood around 2:35 am. According to CNN, CCTV footage showed the tech CEO bleeding while gripping a phone in one hand. Since his death, multiple tech leaders have commented on Lee’s legacy in the industry. However, the San Francisco Police called out Twitter CEO, Elon Musk, during the press conference for posting “reckless and irresponsible statements” and spreading misinformation about the San Francisco police during the time of the investigation.
Lee died at age 43, leaving behind his wife and two children.
