August will provide one of the biggest boxing events of the year when notorious YouTube personality and boxer Jake Paul takes on MMA veteran and former five-time UFC Welterweight champion Tyron Woodley in an eight-round professional bout.
Coming off a knockout victory over Woodley’s teammate and close friend Ben Askren, Paul has set his sights on a bigger challenge, taking on a knockout artist with over a decade of combat sports experience.
During his UFC run, Woodley held the Welterweight title between 2016 and 2019, with four defenses against skilled fighters including Stephen Thompson, Darren Till, and Damien Maia. After a string of setbacks, Woodley left the UFC and is now pursuing a career in boxing with Paul being his first target.
When is the Jake Paul vs Tyron Woodley boxing match?
This high-profile bout will take place on August 29 at the Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse in Cleveland, Ohio. Those who can’t be in attendance can stream the action on Showtime PPV.
Jake Paul will attempt to add to his currently undefeated 3-0 record while Woodley will look to get his first victory in his boxing debut. The fight will be contested at 190 pounds. This is a slight change from where Woodley spent his MMA career at just 170 pounds.
The fight will be under the professional boxing ruleset and is scheduled for a maximum of eight rounds. Alongside the main event, the card will also feature WBC/ WBO Featherweight World Champion Amanda “The Real Deal” Serrano defending her titles against Super Bantamweight World Champion Yamileth Mercado.
The Showtime broadcast will begin at 8 p.m. ET on Sunday, August 29, and can be purchased on PPV.
