Come on LeBron… You’re 27 years old, in the prime of your basketball life, and only in year two of your South Beach experience. You really feel a need to remissness and reflect like a player in the twilight of his career?
When asked about a potential return to the Cleveland Cavaliers at some point in his career, LeBron James said the following, (from Yahoo);
“I don’t know. I think it would be great,” he said. “It would be fun to play in front of these fans again. I had a lot fun times in my seven years here. You can’t predict the future and hopefully I continue to stay healthy. I’m here as a Miami Heat player, and I’m happy where I am now, but I don’t rule that out in no sense.”
I could understand wanting to return “Home” at some point, you’ve meant so much to the state of Ohio, the city of Cleveland, and your hometown of Akron, but now is not the time for those thoughts. Yes, I get that you were asked a direct question and you were just trying to be honest, then again you could be attempting to butter up the Cleveland crowd before you play at Quicken Loans arena for just the 3rd time as a member of the Miami Heat.
Whether you’re truly being sincere or not, you should have a PR guy in your ear telling you not to talk about such nonsense. I’m sure you were coached at some point since the “Decision” to let certain things alone. The majority of Cavs fans still despise you. Hell, you’ve embraced the black hat villainous role along with your Miami teammates and realize that in every arena the boo-birds will ring down on you more than any other player.
You can revisit the return to Ohio discussion in your mid to late 30’s when age has shifted you permanently to the power forward position. Or at the very earliest, when your current contract expires and you hype up another Summer of LeBron. But for now, leave Cleveland alone, and remember this simple phrase… “no comment”
“And if I decide to come back, hopefully the fans will accept me.”
Let it go LeBron… let it go…
