If you watched the NFL Scouting Combine you would have been shocked to see Cam Newton taking part in all the drills. Most top rated QB’s will show up for the Combine but only do a drill or two that they know they will ace. If Cam Newton would have just ran the 40 yard dash and the broad jump he would have went out on a high.
But Cam Newton couldn’t leave it at that, I don’t know if it was pride or if Newton felt he couldn’t hurt anything but he did. Newton decided to enter the throwing drills and went 11 for 21 in his throwing session. He was one for three on short out passes and missed all deep throws to his left.
Like I said earlier, The Heisman Trophy winner from Auburn ran the 40 yard dash in 4.59 seconds, which tied Washington’s Jake Locker for the third-fastest time among quarterbacks, tied for the best broad jump at 10 feet, 6 inches and had a 35-inch vertical jump.
Cam Newton is coming from an offence that was rather simple, now he will land at a NFL training camp expected to learn a very complex system, and with his showing at the Combine will he be ready?
Cam you should have rode the pine!
