‘Talk about it somewhere on Kamino’: ‘Star Wars’ AI cover finally redeems the prequels’ most useless character

'Star Wars' parody songs like this are the real reason we all stay on the internet these days, right?

This song is so much better than it has any business being, and is going to be stuck in my head for at least the next calendar week. So thanks a lot, TikTok. Amid all the AI music swirling around out there, one Star Wars-themed parody has been making its rounds, and fans can’t get enough of it.

Move over Weird Al, there’s a new sheriff in town. TikTok user “billycobmusic” — aka Brotherman Bill — posted an animated adaptation of Keane’s classic 2004 alt-rock banger; Somewhere Only We Know. Only in this particular version, we know where that somewhere is. The planet of Kamino.

Allow me to introduce you to; “Somewhere On Kamino.”

You know — Kamino — home of the cloners responsible for providing the Galactic Republic with their army and effectively starting a massive war. It’s Star Wars Prequel stuff. Right now though, that’s not what we should be focusing on. What we all should be surprised by is how someone managed to make a Battle Droid… Dare I say, likable? Gasp.

It’s no secret that Battle Droids have always been the butt of a cruel joke. They’re easy to kill, have weird robot voices, and never really can get the job done when it comes to defeating good guys. Such is life.

Now though, as this AI cover continues to rake in the views (almost a solid million in its first five hours), franchise fans are starting to think that Battle Droids aren’t all that bad. What’s even more, the song is accompanied by some pretty rad animation — where we get to see Anakin and Obi-Wan take on a few Droids with their Clone buddies.

See? Battle Droids aren’t all that bad. Some of them can play piano and sing eerie covers of famous songs from 20 years ago, and that’s a win in my book.
