Do you want to listen to Colleen Ballinger‘s 10-minute apology song over and over again? Was listening to it on YouTube and TikTok not enough for you? Well, the song popped up on Apple Music for a short while for your convenience. However, this upload was apparently not made by the YouTuber.
Fans spotted the song listed on Apple Music just over two weeks after the original song was uploaded onto YouTube. Some also saw the song listed on Spotify as well. While this was happening, others reported that copyright claims were sent to videos that included the song due to this upload.
This led to accusations that Ballinger wanted to copyright claim everyone who criticized her on social media. Who wouldn’t? The content creator released a passive-aggressive apology in the form of a song amidst being accused of inappropriate behavior toward minors, blackface, and grooming allegations.
The YouTuber’s legal representatives claimed that this upload wasn’t Ballinger’s doing. Pop Crave reported that the song has been removed from her Apple Music profile since someone else uploaded it on her behalf. As of writing, the one-minute version of the song is still available to stream on Spotify.
This isn’t the first time that a YouTuber’s song has been uploaded onto streaming services without their consent. Back in 2016, someone uploaded Daniel Howell’s diss track onto iTunes without his consent, and it somehow surpassed Kanye West on the iTunes charts. The song was immediately removed once Howell became aware of the upload.
While the song is being removed from music streaming platforms, people can still listen to the original cringeworthy upload on YouTube. If you were hoping for an outside chance of seeing this song live for some reason, that’s very unlikely to happen since the remaining dates of her tour were cancelled.
