Stephen King advises Republicans to ‘wise up’ after Trump’s indictment: ‘He betrayed your trust’

Given Trump's initial response to the verdict on Truth Social, this needed to be said.

Despite Donald Trump’s formal indictment in New York for his involvement in the Stormy Daniels debacle, the former president’s PR machine continues to spin the legal proceedings as election interference and political persecution, rather than the justice system doing its job.

Acclaimed author Stephen King, who more often than not takes to Twitter to chime in on all things political, recently shared his thoughts on the matter:

King directly addresses Republicans, doing his absolute best to try and set the record straight and not allow them to be fooled by Trump’s continuous deflection of his misdeeds onto the Democratic party. He states outright that the former President betrayed the trust of U.S. citizens and voters.

Of course, if we’ve learned anything over the last decade or so, it’s that the staunchest supporters of any given political party or figure are unlikely to be swayed away from their views. Still, credit where credit is due to King, for doing his bit to try and keep the narrative on the straight and narrow.

Following the grand jury’s decision, Trump took to Truth Social to issue a statement on the verdict. In textbook Trump fashion, it’s an extensive rant accusing the Democrats of “indicting a completely innocent person in an act of blatant Election Interference.”

Reactions to Trump’s indictment continue to roll in as the night goes on, including the first words following the verdict from the adult film star at the center of the hush money scandal, Stormy Daniels.
